General Banter #186, Charlie Kirk Complains About Women In Their 30s, A Gay Man Risked His And Many Others’ Safety In Qatar Using Grindr

I would start a “this week in stupid” knock-off series for the blog, but where exactly I would get my dingers would be uncertain. Would I get my hot takes from the MAGA sycophants who don’t seem to come out during general elections and then cry about lost elections? Would I get my hot takes from the progressives because they’ve run out of faux things to be outraged over? For this week though, I have a couple of stories that should balance the dumb categories fairly well. Charlie Kirk has suggested that women who are in their 30s are past their prime, something that is deeply ironic since his wife is in her 30s. A gay man that was using Grindr in Qatar was discovered, arrested, and likely snitched on his sexual partners in order to get his HIV medication recovered endangering their lives and his in the process. Let’s get to the stories.

Starting off with Charlie Kirk, he has had several vitriolic things to say about different groups throughout last year between bashing Ron DeSantis and saying he owed Donald Trump the money he used to run his 2024 presidential campaign, bashing black pilots as unqualified, and producing his usual “gotcha” drivel regarding college students. The issue this time is that he decided to say women who were in their 30s were out of their prime, something that current biology is suggesting is false. More women are having children in their 30s versus their 20s owing to the ability to save more money to take care of their prospective children as well as higher rates of educational achievement being obtained by women.

Additionally, even if you ignore the most basic biological definition of what a woman’s purpose is in life, which is to reproduce and carry on the human race, women have meaningful lives to live beyond the baby-rearing years of their 20s and 30s. The show “The Golden Girls” was a testament to the enduring power of women surviving becoming widows and older age and finding purpose in themselves and each other even in older age. The idea that there’s a set age where women are “not at their prime” and “not as attractive in the dating pool” is ludicrous, made somewhat hilarious coming from the baby-faced Charlie Kirk, but I digress.

On the more existential side, most people should have enough common sense not to do commerce in the Middle East if you fall into specific groups, namely women or LGBT. Women regularly are suppressed in the name of Islamic extremism and LGBT people are put to death or imprisoned on the false belief that they will spread pedophilia, bestiality, or some other social ill. Nevertheless, there was a gay British-Mexican man who decided to use Grindr, a location-based gay dating app, in Qatar where the authorities immediately arrested him and withheld his HIV medication unless he divulged his sexual partners, potentially opening them up to criminal inquiry.

In reality, the authorities wouldn’t be deviating from their usual barbarity if they confiscated the man’s passport and forced him into Kafala System-style labor for free work instead of letting him go while also criminally punishing the men that he snitched on. The moral of the story should be that you shouldn’t be engaging in hook-up culture in other countries and especially not as a gay man in the Middle East where they have a reputation of throwing LGBT people off of buildings indiscriminately.

Overall, these two stories were more examples of dumb stories from the week that I thought were worth sharing because of the moral lessons hidden beneath them. Bashing women beyond a certain age while being a failed social media influencer who has single-handedly done more damage to the Republican Party in the past few years than even the Democratic dark money operations is not an envious position to be in. Nor is being a openly gay man without the common sense to avoid parts of the world where your rights depend upon your fealty to the monarchs, the oppressive faith ruling from above, and your inner ability to control your urges until you can find somewhere nicer to live.

(The comments attempt to clarify that he means from a “dating” perspective, but more women are having children at later ages and pursuing collegiate educational goals which takes longer into their 20s. Additionally, women usually have their children around the same time, meaning that the 30s are the last major time for dating and procreating before significant health risks become prominent for children due to older parents.)
