State Legislative Politics, 3-10-2024, Karen Berg (D-KY) Proposes Sex Dolls for Potential Sex Offenders (Difficult Material Mentioned)

Remember how I’ve been commenting on a large number of politicians on the GOP side going off the rails in Oklahoma over the past few weeks? Here’s some coverage from the other side. Kentucky state senator Karen Berg (D-KY) suggested that sex dolls modeled after minors should be widely available to “MAPs”, an acronym that has been used to lessen the severity of the more commonly and contextually appropriate term pedophile. To be clear, there is no excuse for such relations between adults and children and those convicted of such crimes should face justice, but it’s especially concerning whenever a … Continue reading State Legislative Politics, 3-10-2024, Karen Berg (D-KY) Proposes Sex Dolls for Potential Sex Offenders (Difficult Material Mentioned)

There have been numerous stories developing around the world that are worth discussing that have happened in the past few weeks. In Argentina, the recently elected President Javier Milei was recently a speaker at the World Economic Forum where he lambasted socialism in front of a crowd that was largely wanting to hear from anybody but him. In El Salvador, the crime rate in the country has declined sharply after the brutal takedown of the gangs including MS-13 that have been problematic for the country’s development. In France, term-limited Emmanuel Macron is attempting to facelift his party’s brand in the … Continue reading Foreign Politics, 1-28-2024, Updates On Argentina, El Salvador, France, Greece, Netherlands, Taiwan, Thailand, and Yemen

State Legislative Politics, 1-28-2024, Kentucky Considers Moving Its Gubernatorial Elections To Even, Presidential Years

After the 2023 Kentucky gubernatorial election returned Andy Beshear (D-KY) to the governor’s office, the usual power dynamics between winners and losers played out as well as you could believe. The supporters of Beshear were ecstatic that his election was divorced from when the bulk of Republicans in the state would usually cast their votes for statewide candidates for President, Senate, and the state legislature. Republicans, on the flip side, pondered the same idea that New York Democrats had regarding their electoral process in changing the election year of the governor election to coincide with presidential year to ensure that … Continue reading State Legislative Politics, 1-28-2024, Kentucky Considers Moving Its Gubernatorial Elections To Even, Presidential Years

State Legislative Politics, 1-21-2024, Updates From Kentucky and Louisiana

There have been several new developments regarding state legislative politics in recent weeks. Kentucky state legislator Nick Wilson (R-KY) is sponsoring a bill to remove the stipulation that having sexual intercourse with your first cousin would count as incest while most people are just realizing that he was a contestant on “Survivor: David vs. Goliath”. In Louisiana, Governor Jeff Landry (R-LA) is considering changing the state’s open primary law to a closed primary law for elections with Independents crying foul over potentially being disenfranchised in a closed primary system. Let’s get to the stories.               Starting off with Kentucky, … Continue reading State Legislative Politics, 1-21-2024, Updates From Kentucky and Louisiana

Religious Banter #66, Dusty Deevers’ (R-OK) Uniquely Awful Candidacy For Oklahoma Senate

There are certain types of candidates that Republicans and Democrats run in competitive elections that perform dramatically bad for different reasons. For Republicans, pastors can be hit or miss because of either an abundance or complete lack of charm in their messaging. This was certainly the case in Oklahoma’s special election for the 32nd Senate district where Dusty Deevers (R-OK) was the Republican nominee and brought several controversial campaign positions into the election with him. Among these positions were the desire to “abolish” abortion, no-fault divorce, and implement public shaming of couples that triggered at-fault divorces. Here’s why this is … Continue reading Religious Banter #66, Dusty Deevers’ (R-OK) Uniquely Awful Candidacy For Oklahoma Senate

Foreign Politics, 12-17-2023, Updates From Germany, Guyana, Portugal, Russia, and Turkey

There have been several stories developing in Germany, Guyana, Portugal, Russia, and Turkey. In Germany, new polling and coalition updates have recently developed and are worth discussing. In Guyana, there are fears that Venezuela will invade the Western half of their country to gain access to the oil fields off the coast discovered by the United States after a sham referendum was held by the Maduro regime. In Portugal, the center-right Social Democrats and center-left Socialists are neck-and-neck at around 26% of the vote while the right-wing Chega party has climbed to about 18% in the polls. In Russia, the … Continue reading Foreign Politics, 12-17-2023, Updates From Germany, Guyana, Portugal, Russia, and Turkey

Town Hall, 12-3-2023, Updates On Chicago, Charleston, Miami Beach, Louisiana, and Houston

There have been several new stories coming from local municipal elections. In an admission that his tenure has been a failure as mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson (D-IL) has decided to vent and blame Republicans despite his city and county being overwhelmingly Democratic to where a GOPer hasn’t won in decades there. Meanwhile, Republicans have continued their streak of dominance in the Southern United States flipping two mayoral positions in Charleston, South Carolina and Miami Beach, Florida over Democratic-aligned candidates. There is also new polling regarding the Houston mayoral run-off that may give some hints about the intentions from someone … Continue reading Town Hall, 12-3-2023, Updates On Chicago, Charleston, Miami Beach, Louisiana, and Houston

Foreign Politics, 12-3-2023, Why Are American Youth So Left-Leaning Politically?

The youth vote internationally has been divergent from the American youth vote in several different elections as witnessed by several different polling results. If only younger Argentinians were allowed to vote in the presidential election, Javier Milei would’ve won the presidential election with over 60% of the vote. When younger Dutch voters were polled about their preferred candidates, their plurality choice was Geert Wilders’ Party for Freedom with 15% (a large percentage given how the country’s vote is split between multiple parties). By contrast, there was a Meet the Press segment that came out a few months ago that showed … Continue reading Foreign Politics, 12-3-2023, Why Are American Youth So Left-Leaning Politically?

Foreign Politics, 11-26-2023, The 2023 Argentine Presidential Election (Javier Milei Wins)

The Argentine presidential election has finally passed with the run-off now concluded. In what has been a reversal of what happened in the first round, libertarian president-elect Javier Milei defeated Peronist candidate Sergio Massi in a rout winning over a dozen of Argentina’s states and becoming the world’s pre-eminent libertarian presidential voice. With his victory comes an end to the prevailing Peronist politicking of the past which combined the social conservatism of Juan Peron and the fiscal liberalism of socialists into a platform that could be just as dysfunctional from a social as it is economic standpoint. With Milei having … Continue reading Foreign Politics, 11-26-2023, The 2023 Argentine Presidential Election (Javier Milei Wins)

2027 Gubernatorial Election Predictions, 11-26-2023, An Early Preview Of What Could Happen With The Elections In Four Years

With the 2023 elections over, we can officially move forward looking at elections heading into the future into 2024 and beyond. However, while the presidential election that is coming up is the dominant headline, it’s worth looking ahead to 2027 when the next gubernatorial elections in Kentucky, Louisiana, and Mississippi will be happening as they happen every four years. While the next four years will see different names pop in and out of prominence, there are some major names being circulated as major players in the next gubernatorial election already. Thus, it’s worth discussing them to see if they hold … Continue reading 2027 Gubernatorial Election Predictions, 11-26-2023, An Early Preview Of What Could Happen With The Elections In Four Years
