Democratic Banter #344, Democrats Abroad, Anti-Semitism On The Left, and Updates On The Iran-Israel Situation

Something that is prominent in Democratic circles, but is absent in Republican politics, is the presence of a “Democrats Abroad” vote where Democrats who live overseas can still make their voter preference for President known. It seems strange that individuals who live outside of the United States are making decisions for the U.S. beyond military members who aren’t given the option of where they are located, but I digress. The presidential primary vote was tallied with most of the vote going to Joe Biden being the preferred choice as the incumbent Democratic nominee, but the percentage of the vote like … Continue reading Democratic Banter #344, Democrats Abroad, Anti-Semitism On The Left, and Updates On The Iran-Israel Situation

The Academic, 4-21-2024, An Oklahoma Bill Would Allow Unqualified Religious Figures Become Counselors In Public Schools

We are really running the table with education-based stories this week, aren’t we? In Oklahoma, state senator Kevin West (R-OK) has proposed a revamped version of his Senate Bill 36 which would allow public schools to hire religious chaplains instead of qualified school counselors to address student situations. While some chaplains may be cross-qualified with the requirements to become school counselors (namely a master’s degree with certification), the bill that West has proposed offers no specificities on the training that the chaplains would require to become employees. In fact, there’s not even a background search on the candidates required of … Continue reading The Academic, 4-21-2024, An Oklahoma Bill Would Allow Unqualified Religious Figures Become Counselors In Public Schools

Religious Banter #78, Louisiana Proposes Ten Commandments Be Shown In Public Classrooms

Louisiana is already starting down the evangelical path that one could imagine would happen with Governor Jeff Landry and the Republican state legislature with the recent passing of a bill that dictates that schools that receive school funding must present the Ten Commandments. For those that are unaware with Judeo-Christian values, the Ten Commandments are a type of early constitution that governed the moral behavior of the Israelites in the Old Testament. While I am not personally opposed to the Ten Commandments having been exposed to them my entire life, there is a staunch difference between my outlook as a … Continue reading Religious Banter #78, Louisiana Proposes Ten Commandments Be Shown In Public Classrooms

Democratic Banter #341, Updates On Democratic Controversies (The Biden Fundraiser, Anti-Semitism, and More Rappers In Congress?)

When thinking about why older Americans usually step away from the Democratic Party, it stems from the difference between natural aging and the messaging that the party uses when appealing to voters. Democratic messaging often appeals to selfish morality such as choice, pleasure, and indulging in base level instincts at the cost of higher level discussions of philosophy, human nature, and what is considered good and proper. This isn’t to excuse the grievance politics of right-wing populism used by the Trumpian wing of the GOP, but the Democratic Party traditionally uses the “my body, my choice”, casual profanity, accusations of … Continue reading Democratic Banter #341, Updates On Democratic Controversies (The Biden Fundraiser, Anti-Semitism, and More Rappers In Congress?)

Religious Banter #77, Two Negative Stories From Easter 2024

This is going to be one of those articles where I get admonished by both sides for being either too serious, not enough, or for wasting your time with something so inane it wasn’t worth the space on your browser. I apologize in advance. This Easter was marked by Republicans and Democrats doing what they do best, politicizing a holiday where the main focus should be to depoliticize a holiday and spend time with family. In the case of Democrats, Joe Biden promoted the “Transgender Day of Visibility” to the vitriol of social conservatives. In the case of Republicans, they … Continue reading Religious Banter #77, Two Negative Stories From Easter 2024

Religious Banter #76, The Phrase That Became Co-Opted By Nick Fuentes and Christian Nationalists (And The Candace Owens Firing)

You know that one person who ruins a phrase for everybody? That would be Nick Fuentes who took the phrase “Christ Is King”, allowed fringe legislators to misappropriate it to promote a flawed sense of Christian nationalism that allowed for discrimination against all other viewpoints, and then left actual Christians having to do damage control in place of the troll. To be clear, Fuentes is not a Christian by any metric of piety, mercy, or concern for other human beings with his proclamation that non-Christians and Jews should be discriminated against to the point of eradication, but there are people … Continue reading Religious Banter #76, The Phrase That Became Co-Opted By Nick Fuentes and Christian Nationalists (And The Candace Owens Firing)

Republican Banter #354, Rob Smith Leaving The GOP (His Treatment From Turning Point USA’s America Fest Leaves Little Imagination Why And Greater Points)

The year was 2016 and the Wall Street Journal ran a video where there were two openly gay men at the Republican National Convention, something that most Americans were fine with, but some Republicans might have had some consternation with because of religious reasons. However, contrary to what some on the far-left would expect to happen, the event happened without the hullabaloo that one would expect from the religious right. As it turns out, the fear of Hillary Clinton was enough to outweigh the fear of two gay men hugging in public. However, even as the party was attempting to … Continue reading Republican Banter #354, Rob Smith Leaving The GOP (His Treatment From Turning Point USA’s America Fest Leaves Little Imagination Why And Greater Points)

Foreign Politics, 3-3-2024, Lula De Silva Outed At An Anti-Semite, Reproductive Rights In The Gaza Strip?

There were several foreign policy stories that caught my attention over the past few weeks. At the same time that Brazil is attempting to betray American interests by allying with the new BRICS currency with other hostile countries like China and Russia, they have excused the murder of Alexei Navalny in Russian captivity as being unexplained (Putin tried to poison him prior) while simultaneously calling Israel’s actions to defend itself against Hamas’s aggression “genocide” like Hitler’s holocaust. On that same note, there was one Twitter comment that caught my attention because the person called for a ceasefire because of “repro … Continue reading Foreign Politics, 3-3-2024, Lula De Silva Outed At An Anti-Semite, Reproductive Rights In The Gaza Strip?

Libertarian Banter #112, A Writer from The Nation Can’t Differentiate Between Legitimate Protest And Violent Behavior

I stated my opinion on the Aaron Bushnell story and I’ve unfortunately seen enough memes ridiculing a man who I believe had mental health concerns to be free from the image, so I’ve concluded that whatever opinion I have about being respectful toward the family and the deceased is going to get abandoned by the masses into the ether. This is nothing new for humanity, but it is sad, nonetheless. However, there was one comment from a writer in Jerusalem on the Palestinian side, Mohammed El-Kurd who works for the publication, The Nation, that was particularly egregious for the number … Continue reading Libertarian Banter #112, A Writer from The Nation Can’t Differentiate Between Legitimate Protest And Violent Behavior

Religious Banter #75, Will Spencer’s Attempt To Demonize Women Dancing Raises More Uncomfortable Questions Than Answers

I apologize in advance for someone coming across my blog for the first time this March and reading about various fringe figures on the internet, this isn’t what I usually cover in depth all the time. This week just happens to be literally the epitome of the phrase “March Madness” minus one uninteresting basketball game and featuring several other cringe personalities that I didn’t need to know about. In this scenario, Will Spencer, who has the Renaissance of Man podcast, is trying to shame women for dancing to supposedly sexualized music together at a public event. In the video, however, … Continue reading Religious Banter #75, Will Spencer’s Attempt To Demonize Women Dancing Raises More Uncomfortable Questions Than Answers
