Late Week Election Round-Up, 5-5-2024, Updates From The House, Governor, Mayoral, and Other News

It is the final weekend before the first major series of weeks where congressional primaries are happening. In addition to a number of primaries happening in May and June 2024, most of them are among the most consequential where there are primary challengers to incumbent Congressmen, meaning that the question of how bad the turnover in the next Congress will be answered after months of speculation. However, in the lead up to this Tuesday the 7th when Indiana will have their primaries, I will be covering some stories regarding gubernatorial news leading into 2026, ballot access and third parties, an … Continue reading Late Week Election Round-Up, 5-5-2024, Updates From The House, Governor, Mayoral, and Other News

Democratic Banter #344, Democrats Abroad, Anti-Semitism On The Left, and Updates On The Iran-Israel Situation

Something that is prominent in Democratic circles, but is absent in Republican politics, is the presence of a “Democrats Abroad” vote where Democrats who live overseas can still make their voter preference for President known. It seems strange that individuals who live outside of the United States are making decisions for the U.S. beyond military members who aren’t given the option of where they are located, but I digress. The presidential primary vote was tallied with most of the vote going to Joe Biden being the preferred choice as the incumbent Democratic nominee, but the percentage of the vote like … Continue reading Democratic Banter #344, Democrats Abroad, Anti-Semitism On The Left, and Updates On The Iran-Israel Situation

2024 Democratic Presidential Primary Banter, 3-24-2024, The Underperformance Of Dean Phillips, The Uncommitted Vote, Etc.

For all of my mentioning of the Republican presidential primaries, the Democratic presidential primaries received scant attention and for good reason. Effectively selected to be a coronation like in 2016 and 2020 from the onset between the superdelegate fiasco of 2016 to the Jim Clyburn endorsement/Elizabeth Warren vote-siphoning of 2020, the effort to control who is the party nominee has been in play for the better part of eight years now. This is relevant to the 2024 race when the Robert Kennedy Jr. campaign announced its independent campaign in protest and Congressman Dean Phillips launched a quixotic bid for the … Continue reading 2024 Democratic Presidential Primary Banter, 3-24-2024, The Underperformance Of Dean Phillips, The Uncommitted Vote, Etc.

Libertarian Banter #112, A Writer from The Nation Can’t Differentiate Between Legitimate Protest And Violent Behavior

I stated my opinion on the Aaron Bushnell story and I’ve unfortunately seen enough memes ridiculing a man who I believe had mental health concerns to be free from the image, so I’ve concluded that whatever opinion I have about being respectful toward the family and the deceased is going to get abandoned by the masses into the ether. This is nothing new for humanity, but it is sad, nonetheless. However, there was one comment from a writer in Jerusalem on the Palestinian side, Mohammed El-Kurd who works for the publication, The Nation, that was particularly egregious for the number … Continue reading Libertarian Banter #112, A Writer from The Nation Can’t Differentiate Between Legitimate Protest And Violent Behavior

Late Week Election Round-Up, 2-11-2024, Updates In The Presidential, Senate, Governor, and the House Elections

There have been multiple updates regarding the House, Senate, Governor, and Presidential elections in the past few weeks. In the House, several new primaries are coming into focus as Republicans and Democrats are facing criticism from the center and from their left and right flanks. Additionally, more retirements are mounting as one Representative has decided that they wouldn’t retire after all creating a heated primary in their seat. In the Senate, there are primary worries coming from the right while polling and fundraising has some candidates looking incredibly poor heading into the general election. In the race for governorships, there … Continue reading Late Week Election Round-Up, 2-11-2024, Updates In The Presidential, Senate, Governor, and the House Elections

Strange Numbers #304, Virginia’s Presidential Primary Numbers Are Abysmal At 0.36% Turnout (Ten Days Into Early Voting, Jan. 29, 2024)

I’m a firm believer in early voting as it alleviates much of the congestion on Election Day and helps to prevent the legal grounds for keeping the polls open in certain precincts longer than others because of ballot shortages or because of technical errors. After all, if there was an extended period for you to vote days before an election and you decided not to take advantage of that opportunity, it becomes harder from a civic perspective to justify to keeping a polling place open for an hour or hours after other polling locations have closed. However, there should be … Continue reading Strange Numbers #304, Virginia’s Presidential Primary Numbers Are Abysmal At 0.36% Turnout (Ten Days Into Early Voting, Jan. 29, 2024)

The Judge, 2-4-2024, Alina Habba’s Early Results As Donald Trump’s Lawyer Are Indictive Of Disaster Later In The Year

Alina Habba is already starting off the legal circus surrounding Donald Trump on a very sour note with her potentially being referred for legal action according to Judge Lewis Kaplan who is overseeing his defamation trial regarding E. Jean Carroll. At one point during the trial, Kaplan stated that Habba was on the “verge of spending some time in the lockup” according to Newsweek for actions during the trial which eventually led to a punishment of over $80 million in damages being rewarded to E. Jean Carroll at the end of the trial. This is all going to be coming … Continue reading The Judge, 2-4-2024, Alina Habba’s Early Results As Donald Trump’s Lawyer Are Indictive Of Disaster Later In The Year

Late Week Election Round-Up, 1-21-2024, Updates Regarding The House, Senate, Governor, and Presidential Elections

There have been multiple developments in the House, Senate, and Governor elections in the past few weeks that are worth discussing. Significant primary battles in Congress are still in the works of unfolding as the number of retirements from the House of Representatives continues to increase. Donald Trump’s recent dominance in the presidential primaries stands to potentially unhinge several crucial primaries in the Senate where the NRSC already has handpicked or preferred candidates that are primed to challenge incumbent Democratic Senators. Additionally, there is new polling regarding the gubernatorial elections happening in 2024. There also was a winner in the … Continue reading Late Week Election Round-Up, 1-21-2024, Updates Regarding The House, Senate, Governor, and Presidential Elections

2024 Democratic Presidential Primary Banter, 12-31-2023, Cenk Uygur’s Illegal Presidential Bid Is Also Anti-Semitic (And Further Commentary On The Houthis)

Cenk Uygur has made his career off of pugilist swipes against his political opponents. One could make the same argument about my blog posts regarding criticizing everyone left, right, and center, but I would like to think that I have my morality grounded somewhere based in reality. In the case of Uygur, who is running for U.S. President despite being ineligible due to being born in Turkey and the requirements for President requiring born as an American, he has decided to weigh in on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by slamming Benjamin Netanyahu and suggesting that he as Prime Minister has been … Continue reading 2024 Democratic Presidential Primary Banter, 12-31-2023, Cenk Uygur’s Illegal Presidential Bid Is Also Anti-Semitic (And Further Commentary On The Houthis)

Democratic Banter #318, Unflattering Stories From Gavin Newsom (D-CA), Ryan Jenkins (D-NC), and Eric Adams (D-NY)

It’s a fairly reliable circumstance that Democrats will engage in a bit of bad behavior every now and then like Republicans to the point where I can do a compilation from the past few weeks. Whereas some of the stories would’ve caught my attention in other separate headlines, I’m going to cover multiple stories in abbreviated headlines here to provide a plethora of content that has happened. With that being said, let’s get to the stories.             In California, Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) has shown a tendency not to be a great judge of character with his willingness to make … Continue reading Democratic Banter #318, Unflattering Stories From Gavin Newsom (D-CA), Ryan Jenkins (D-NC), and Eric Adams (D-NY)
