Music Reviews, 5-12-2024, Macklemore’s Overt Anti-Semitism/Anti-Industry Position In “Hind’s Hall”

If middle-aged rockers’ music age like milk, middle-aged rappers’ music ages like white blood cells: a new one-hit wonder every day with few recurring hits in-between and many going by the wayside in the hustle and bustle of modern music. Take for instance, Macklemore. After gaining attention for the songs “Thrift Shop”, “Same Love”, and “Can’t Hold Us”, he collapsed from the charts afterward and has never really recovered in recent memory. While I can appreciate the actual bravery in the stance of “Same Love” for what it stood for at the time of its release, the remainder of his … Continue reading Music Reviews, 5-12-2024, Macklemore’s Overt Anti-Semitism/Anti-Industry Position In “Hind’s Hall”

The Purse Holder, 5-5-2024, Dave & Buster’s Friendly Bets (What Could Go Wrong?)

If you live in North Carolina, you probably remember the rollout of the online sports betting industry and the endless advertising that was done in advance of the activity. For all of the vices that are associated with gambling, you would’ve thought that gambling was part of state-approved propaganda based on the intensity and irritation that came with the advertising campaign. While I tend to be a free-market capitalist and remain by that stance, gambling is the ultimate in anti-poor industries because it feeds on the weakness of the most vulnerable and plunges families from comfortable living standards to destitution. … Continue reading The Purse Holder, 5-5-2024, Dave & Buster’s Friendly Bets (What Could Go Wrong?)

Chromatic, 5-5-2024, Far-Left Protestors At Ole Miss Meet Potentially Racist Frat Bros (Who Is The Public Supposed To Root For Here?)

Occam’s Razor exists for a reason: to dispel absurd conspiratorial notions in favor of simpler explanations and to prevent normal people from going down the rabbit hole of reasons why blank event happened. For instance, one can imagine that the reason why someone didn’t get a second date might have more to do with the fact they were unemployed and asked the other person to cover the tab versus their date being hateful and/or being a government plant. Nevertheless, there are fewer clear examples that come through in the social sphere where one has to question the motives behind a … Continue reading Chromatic, 5-5-2024, Far-Left Protestors At Ole Miss Meet Potentially Racist Frat Bros (Who Is The Public Supposed To Root For Here?)

2024 Presidential General Election Banter, 5-5-2024, Donald Trump To Speak At The Libertarian National Convention

Recently, I saw an announcement that showed that Donald Trump would be speaking at the 2024 Libertarian National Convention in May which sparked some interest. Of all of the various adaptations of Trumpism, libertarianism has never been one of them even if social libertarian components have been incorporated at times. At it’s most libertarian, Trumpism attempts to use old-fashioned financial protectionism coupled with laissez-faire domestic social policy to appeal to centrist voters, while the most radical forms of Trumpism embrace law-and-order politics directly opposite of libertarianism in wanting order at the expense of personal liberty. Nevertheless, the decision by the … Continue reading 2024 Presidential General Election Banter, 5-5-2024, Donald Trump To Speak At The Libertarian National Convention

General Banter #187, Updates On Random Stories From The Past Few Weeks (Jen Psaki Font, John Cena & The Oscars, and The Billboard Charts)

In my efforts to recap all of the relevant stories from the last few weeks, there will be some stories that I miss in that effort. Here I will try to cover some of those stories in bulk to provide some commentary, maybe a few laughs, and hopefully something worth the time of your reading this article. When thinking about what Jen Psaki’s show on MSNBC irked me as someone who doesn’t casually watch MSNBC, I noticed the font of her name being a factor that stood out like a sore thumb. John Cena’s stunt at the Oscars shocked me … Continue reading General Banter #187, Updates On Random Stories From The Past Few Weeks (Jen Psaki Font, John Cena & The Oscars, and The Billboard Charts)

Strange Numbers #311, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Proposes Building The Largest Skyscraper In The United States In 2024

There was recently the unveiling of plans for the largest building in the United States which wasn’t planned for the New York City skyline, but for the Oklahoma City skyline. With the potential to become the world’s sixth largest building and the largest in the United States, there are questions as to what would inspire Oklahomans to pursue such an extravagant venture when the building may be deemed unnecessary. When factors like cost and utility are assessed, why would a building that measures 1,907 ft in the air be considered a necessary marvel for the United States during a period … Continue reading Strange Numbers #311, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Proposes Building The Largest Skyscraper In The United States In 2024

Late Week Election Round-Up, 3-10-2024, Rounding Up The Close Of This Week In Politics

With Super Tuesday now passed and Nikki Haley having formally dropped out of the primary election, the general election for 2024 will officially be Donald Trump vs. Joe Biden in a rematch of the 2020 election. It’s not a rematch that the country wants or deserves, but it is what appears to be playing out before the country’s eyes. After my commentary this primary season which has been overwhelmingly negative toward the Trump campaign owing to the continually disgraceful behavior of his surrogates, I will begrudgingly keep my word from earlier in the year saying I would vote for the … Continue reading Late Week Election Round-Up, 3-10-2024, Rounding Up The Close Of This Week In Politics

Hypothetical Maps, 3-3-2024, Technically It’s The Rich Men Around Richmond Now (Projected Virginia Demographic Changes In 2023-2024)

When looking at population estimates in Virginia that came out of the Weldon Cooper Center, the results may have a 2023 country song lambasted by music critics for its overtures against welfare recipients being considered redundant. Oliver Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond” was a political shot at Washington, D.C. that has aged poorly overtime after I initially defended it from Anthony Fantano from The Needle Drop, largely because Fantano immediately tried to link it to the Confederacy when maybe there could be some redeeming quality to the song. The purpose for that context may seem redundant to population shifts, … Continue reading Hypothetical Maps, 3-3-2024, Technically It’s The Rich Men Around Richmond Now (Projected Virginia Demographic Changes In 2023-2024)

Chromatic, 2-25-2024, Looking Back At The 2007 Flag Submissions For Kosovo (And Context Why They Might Not Have Been Chosen)

Nostalgia isn’t the healthiest emotion to fixate on as it can prevent future growth and limit openness to opportunities that might be fulfilling, even if challenging later on. However, sometimes it’s fun to go back in time and look at remnants of the past and the 2007 flag submissions for the then-newly independent Republic of Kosovo is no exception. When looking at some of the designs that the people of Kosovo sent in, they were shocking by the level of derivativeness that they were to the Albanian flag which Albania rests right next door. This isn’t necessarily too surprising given … Continue reading Chromatic, 2-25-2024, Looking Back At The 2007 Flag Submissions For Kosovo (And Context Why They Might Not Have Been Chosen)

General Banter #179, The Super Bowl 58 Update And What Does Next Year Hold?

In non-political news, the Super Bowl was last Sunday which resulted in the Kansas City Chiefs winning another title despite being counted out as underdogs in the playoffs for the final few games of the season. For several people, this had different effects. For Patrick Mahomes, this had the effect of catapulting his legacy of being a top-tier quarterback even further with some comparing him to being the next Tom Brady owing to the stretch of seasons in the 2010s when the New England Patriots would win several Super Bowls with minimal resistance. For Taylor Swift, her endorsement of the … Continue reading General Banter #179, The Super Bowl 58 Update And What Does Next Year Hold?
