The House Always Wins, 4-28-2024, Donald Payne, Jr. (D-NJ) Passes (And Other Updates)

Unbeknownst to the general public, Congressman Donald Payne, Jr. had been struggling in the hospital for the past few weeks with complications relating to his diabetes diagnosis, something that I had been aware of because of a press release from the distance meeting era of Congress during COVID when people with diseases like diabetes were at greater risk. On April 24th, 2024, he passed away after struggling in the hospital after suffering from those complications to which I offer my condolences to the family. While the generally accepted best time to talk about politics is never because most people don’t … Continue reading The House Always Wins, 4-28-2024, Donald Payne, Jr. (D-NJ) Passes (And Other Updates)

General Banter #189, Mental Illness, Self-Immolation, and How Both Sides Are Handling It Wrong

The recent trend of left-wingers setting themselves ablaze has been frightening, to say the least. The first instance that caught attention was a few weeks ago with Aaron Bushnell allegedly self-immolating himself owing to the United States’ support for Israel in their defense against attacks from Hamas, now including other foreign actors. With a second notable instance, there is reason to believe that the far-left isn’t doing enough to quell the self-destructive tendencies within their party instead preferring to cheer on the behavior on social media for clout. Now that Max Azzarello has succumbed to his injuries, the online mockery … Continue reading General Banter #189, Mental Illness, Self-Immolation, and How Both Sides Are Handling It Wrong

Religious Banter #78, Louisiana Proposes Ten Commandments Be Shown In Public Classrooms

Louisiana is already starting down the evangelical path that one could imagine would happen with Governor Jeff Landry and the Republican state legislature with the recent passing of a bill that dictates that schools that receive school funding must present the Ten Commandments. For those that are unaware with Judeo-Christian values, the Ten Commandments are a type of early constitution that governed the moral behavior of the Israelites in the Old Testament. While I am not personally opposed to the Ten Commandments having been exposed to them my entire life, there is a staunch difference between my outlook as a … Continue reading Religious Banter #78, Louisiana Proposes Ten Commandments Be Shown In Public Classrooms

Democratic Banter #344, Democrats Abroad, Anti-Semitism On The Left, and Updates On The Iran-Israel Situation

Something that is prominent in Democratic circles, but is absent in Republican politics, is the presence of a “Democrats Abroad” vote where Democrats who live overseas can still make their voter preference for President known. It seems strange that individuals who live outside of the United States are making decisions for the U.S. beyond military members who aren’t given the option of where they are located, but I digress. The presidential primary vote was tallied with most of the vote going to Joe Biden being the preferred choice as the incumbent Democratic nominee, but the percentage of the vote like … Continue reading Democratic Banter #344, Democrats Abroad, Anti-Semitism On The Left, and Updates On The Iran-Israel Situation

The Academic, 4-21-2024, An Oklahoma Bill Would Allow Unqualified Religious Figures Become Counselors In Public Schools

We are really running the table with education-based stories this week, aren’t we? In Oklahoma, state senator Kevin West (R-OK) has proposed a revamped version of his Senate Bill 36 which would allow public schools to hire religious chaplains instead of qualified school counselors to address student situations. While some chaplains may be cross-qualified with the requirements to become school counselors (namely a master’s degree with certification), the bill that West has proposed offers no specificities on the training that the chaplains would require to become employees. In fact, there’s not even a background search on the candidates required of … Continue reading The Academic, 4-21-2024, An Oklahoma Bill Would Allow Unqualified Religious Figures Become Counselors In Public Schools

2024 Senate Election Predictions, 4-21-2024, Updates On The 2024 Senate Races

This past week had a few notable updates regarding the Senate that are worth noting. The polling is showing that the GOP candidates are running very close to Democratic incumbents or frontrunners in states like New Jersey and Wisconsin, while the situation in Arizona with Kari Lake has the potential to backslide into Republican failure further down-ballot. The trial regarding embattled Senator Bob Menendez has the potential to drag his wife into taking the fall for the both of them with the Senator facing steep legal odds in his bid for another Senate term. Let’s get to the stories.             … Continue reading 2024 Senate Election Predictions, 4-21-2024, Updates On The 2024 Senate Races

The House Always Wins, 4-21-2024, Updates On The 2024 House Races

There were some updates from last week from the House of Representatives that were worth commenting on. The recent pressure placed on the lawmakers who voted to oust Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House appears to be mounting as financial resources appear to be lining up behind the primary challengers to two of the prominent names. This comes as polling and fundraising also suggest that two Democratic “Squad” members are at great risk of being primaried from the center of the Democratic Party. Also, a new retirement from the House of Representatives has opened a safe Republican seat in … Continue reading The House Always Wins, 4-21-2024, Updates On The 2024 House Races

The House Always Wins, 4-21-2024, A Worst Case Scenario Guide Heading To May 14th, 2024 Regarding Primaries

I’ve covered the bulk of the major stories metastasizing in Republican and Democratic circles in the last article for this week dealing with the House, but I wanted to comment on every House primary that could conceivably fall apart for the GOP leading up to May 12th, 2024. While I don’t expect (and hope not) that every one of these hypothetical primary situations plays out in the worst way possible, the last few scares and the upcoming primary run-off between Brandon Herrera and Congressman Tony Gonzalez give reason to believe that there might be danger in the primaries for Republican … Continue reading The House Always Wins, 4-21-2024, A Worst Case Scenario Guide Heading To May 14th, 2024 Regarding Primaries

Republican Banter #357, Melania Trump Hosts An Event For The Log Cabin Republicans As Her Critics Complain For Different Reasons

For all of the criticisms that I’ve had of Donald Trump since 2022, there have been little to no criticisms of Melania Trump in that same period. Maligned unfairly in the press because of who her husband is, she has attempted to imprint her own legacy as a first lady and former first lady on the memory of those who she has represented. In one such instance where her grace comes out in force yet again, one of her public appearances is with the Log Cabin Republicans signaling to the greater Republican base that the LGBT wing of the party’s … Continue reading Republican Banter #357, Melania Trump Hosts An Event For The Log Cabin Republicans As Her Critics Complain For Different Reasons

Late Week Election Round-Up, 4-14-2024, Updates From The House, Senate, and Governor Elections (2024 and 2026 Elections)

There were some stories to conclude the past week in politics regarding the House, Senate, and Governor races happening in 2024 and 2026. In the House, the GOP’s mainstream fundraising arm has announced the battleground candidates that they were supporting versus the other members who were more solid in their bets for re-election. In the Senate, a myriad of polling is showing competitive Senate races in places where the races shouldn’t theoretically be competitive. Regarding the gubernatorial elections, North Carolina’s election is showing signs of movement as the baggage surrounding Lt. Governor Mark Robinson appears to be roosting around his … Continue reading Late Week Election Round-Up, 4-14-2024, Updates From The House, Senate, and Governor Elections (2024 and 2026 Elections)
